The current discharge capacity of the Chenab River is 600,000 cusecs, but the flood surge could exceed 800,000 cusecs. To protect Jhang city, a breach was made in an embankment near the Riwaz Bridge, allowing floodwater to spread into nearby villages and reducing pressure on the Trimmu Headworks.
